Denzel doing Broadway

Denzel Washington is planning to ditch Hollywood and return to Broadway.

Washington has been recently tapped to star in the hit stage production of Fences, reports New York's Daily News.
August Wilson's play will feature the Academy Award-winning actor as Troy Maxson, originally played by actor James Earl Jones. The play, which is slated to hit theaters April 2010, is a revival of the Pulitzer Prize-winning 1987 production.
Scott Rudin and Carole Shorenstein Hays will produce the drama. Kenny Leon, who's best known for the 2004 Broadway revival adaptation of Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun which starred Sean "Diddy" Combs, is in talks to direct.
Washington's last Broadway run was in 2005's Julius Caesar, where he played Brutus. He is slated to begin rehearsals in February
